.settle down, it will be clear.

In a magic land in Northern California there is a tiny hiking trail that can be easy to lose and that maybe 10 people walk a day.
The climb to this world is breath taking — that is to say the trail can be quite steep.
When you make it to the top of the mountain, deep and old forests dwarf you. You nearly feel the trees holding their breath as you pass them by — you caught them in the middle of an important conversation.
Knee height, bushes and bushes of raspberry brambles, with their bright lime leaves and their still white treasure holding on to become ripe.

Then you’ll turn a corner some 6 miles in and you are a fairy princess just like you always imagined.
Daisies and Marigolds as tall as you are will kiss you in the face as you pass quietly by — perhaps singing a song without realizing, as you catch the tune of the enchantment there.
Around your feet, butterflies will fly nearly every step you take. The occasional deer will run away from you down the tiny foot path — not that he’s frightened really, just shy.
Quails protect their young as they call you to diversion –yelling and kicking up dust — as their newly hatched jr.
flees for cover in the wildflowers.

Eventually you’ll lose the trail on a mile of glacier smoothed down stone and it might take you an extra hour, but in the distance you will see the lake glistening in the twilight promising to be worthwhile.

Then you’re there, beside your lover, looking at a silent lake but for the fish that jump out of it ever so occasionally.

There isn’t a human for miles,
Just as you get a fire started and dinner going, the frogs start to sing, and a bird in a tree not far away lamenting the passing of day — a mournful song he will keep up until he sees the sun back again.

When you climb into bed you are not hot or cold and you let the darkness and all of its culture take you in.
The day has been perfect — you need nothing more.
